Instead, we got middle management, dial-up internet, and this shirt.

This is not a garment. It is a monument to the bleak reality that followed the party. Look at that single, sickly-green logo. It isn’t just a design. It is the ghost of a future that never arrived, judging you from a past we simply cannot escape. It is the anti-anthem for the woman who realized the flying car was actually just a minivan with a tape deck.

The “clean white canvas” is a beautiful lie. It is destined to be stained by the cynicism of the modern world. The “playful, rounded lettering” is a deliberate mockery of the angular, optimistic fonts of a decade that believed we would all be living on the moon by now.

It is breathable and entirely unrestrictive. After all, what else is there to do but be comfortable in our collective disappointment? Wear it as a quiet, sarcastic protest. It is a signal to the others that you, too, remember the promise of a united color palette and you find its spectacular failure strangely comforting.

The Architecture of Disillusionment:
The Fabric: 100 percent ring-spun cotton. It is quite literally the only thing from that entire decade that has remained soft.
The Build: Tubular knit construction. We have removed the side seams because the “seamless future” we were sold was a fabrication.
The Collar: Ribbed with shoulder tape. It is engineered to retain its shape in a world that has long since lost its own.
The Print: High-durability DTG. It will certainly last longer than the utopian dreams of a John Hughes film.
The Pedigree: OEKO-TEX certified. Because even our profound disillusionment must be ethically sourced and free of harmful chemicals.

Maintenance for the Uninspired:
The Wash: Cold water with similar colors. A fitting tribute to the soul-crushing conformity we ultimately embraced.
The Bleach: Do not. We have long since abandoned such bold, transformative gestures.
The Dry: Tumble dry on low heat. It serves as a gentle metaphor for our significantly lowered expectations.
The Iron: Low heat, if you are still desperately trying to smooth things over with the neighbors.
The Professional: Do not dry clean. This garment is a testament to the mundane reality we inherited. It does not belong in a plastic bag.
